Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Sierra County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to review it and respond. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates, times, and duration
- Device type and operating system
- The referring website, when one is reported
- Browser name and version
- Pages opened during the visit
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Small files called cookies help measure traffic patterns, such as which pages draw visits and where sessions end. Analytics providers combine that usage information into reports. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Sierra County Criminal History does not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes request guidance for records held by Sierra County law enforcement, New Mexico courts, the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, and the New Mexico DPS Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not compiled into a consumer report or a third-party criminal file.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy policies govern submitted queries, along with their retention and disclosure choices. Those practices are outside this site's control, so review the provider's terms before entering a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links lead to court portals, sheriff and state-agency pages, legal resources, and outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy rules apply. Review them before providing personal details.
Some advertising providers may measure activity across websites to select ads. That tracking occurs through their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers that process a visitor's query
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
- Advertising networks that serve content on the pages
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, however, and this site cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If such data is identified, a deletion request may be made.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with a visitor's residence and applicable law. In New Mexico, the Inspection of Public Records Act, §§14-2-1 through 14-2-12 NMSA 1978, governs access to public-agency records, while §29-10-6 NMSA 1978 governs a subject's access to state arrest information. Those laws do not turn this private site into a public custodian. For data held here, a visitor may:
- Request deletion of personal data when applicable
- Ask what personal information is held
- Object to certain forms of processing where the law permits
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information

This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date.
